Imagine having something poisonous inside you and you must have surgery to remove it[SH1] . Once it is gone, you have[SH2]  an incision that needs to heal. As it heals, the old skin and new skin must now grow together. Likewise, when you begin to make positive changes in your life, it is necessary for the “old” thinking you and the “new” thinking you to come together and grow forward as one[SH3] .

     Aunt Dot lifted her shaky hand to her bifocals, lowered them to her nose, and squinted in my direction.
     “Eh?”

     I cupped my fingers around my mouth and shouted again, “I LOVE this book!” She smiled—one of those fizzy drink kind of smiles that pops tiny bubbles of air to the lips over seconds of time. Then she went back to reading.
